Koi Fish Pond, 2021

Yarn and mixed media on Charcoal Paper

36x29.5in

Artsist Statment:

This work titled, Koi Fish Pond (36x29.5) is a mixed media abstract depiction of a koi fish pond. In this piece I wanted to mix multiple different media to create a sensory experience for the viewer. My intention of yarn as a media is to emphasize the various textures of the material to represent the textures within nature. That nature goes beyond just seeing it to experience. That nature is an abstract experience. In this area of experimentation in my artwork I wanted to capture the fluidity of nature through abstract lines.

I utilized organic materials such as yarn and synthetic moss to replicate water and nature. I wanted the winding lines of the water to create a visual pathway that emulated a relaxing water like flow that replicated the aura of a real koi fish pond. The natural lines of the yarn display movement and a sense of liveliness to the water. For the koi fish I wanted to build a contrast from the three dimensional lines of the yarn. To achieve these textural lines of yarn I used white glue to adhere the yarn and moss on the charcoal paper. For the background of the green forest I used watercolor. This choice of medium was to show a harmonious background that would not clash with the high texture contrast of the yarn.

PinkVille, 2022

Procreate Graphic/Interactive Piece

This piece was inspried by my childhood imaginary world "PinkVille". As a child I would use this specific blanket to teleport myself into this imaginary universe. The audiecne interacted with the artwork by going underneath the the blanket and out on pink hued glasses to travel to my childhood fanstasy. The glasses were inclided to  enter into my rose colored world and expierence the transformation from a black and white world to a pink wonderland.
